Shopping Girls!
This was one colourful and fun quilt to work on.
I bought this fabric on a road trip somewhere in the USA.
I thought it was absolutely adorable and couldn’t wait to get started.
I knew that I would have to get creative as the ladies were placed very randomly.
I decided to fussy cut the blocks and start sorting through the scrap stash.
I did not envision this as a final product but I think it’s quite cute and the recipient loved it.
I used a minky on the back so it’s soft and heavy for a cold, Canadian winter’s night.
Acid Trip
Have you ever wondered what you’d do with a layer cake (42, 10 inch squares) in a rainbow of solid colours?
Nope, me either…well, not until I found myself adding the daily deal to my cart.
This is what I came up with and I tell you, I did not imagine that I’d love this one as much as I did, when I was holding that packet of squares.
I loved quilting this with a circular swirl to soften some of the sharp points.
It has been affectionately knicknamed the “Acid Trip” quilt.
Check out how beautiful that batik backing matched.
P.S. I’m not afraid of half square triangles. LOL
What do you think?
Bargello
This, this quilt right here ranks up there as one of my all time favourite projects.
I love the pattern and the colours.
I developed a little bit of a method in doing this project. One little tip, in case you find yourself in the midst of a bargello creation is to use a tiny stitch length and pray that you don’t have to rip anything out.
This pattern was a little small for my liking and I had plenty of fabric so I added a little extra in the way of borders.
When I was in Victoria BC, a friend dazzled me with this quilt shop that she frequented and boy, her hype did not disappointed. I’ve never seen so many gorgeous batiks all in one place. This is simply another reason to get back on that ferry and return to a heavenly little quilt shop.
This pattern was a little small for my liking and I had plenty of fabric I added a few extra borders.
