Choosing me...
I know how much time and love goes into creating a quilt. My main goal is to bring your finished quilt top to life with wonderful stitching.
You choose the design from a variety of patterns that I have on file or if you find something that you love online, I’m happy to accommodate.
I will take your vision and bring it to fruition.
Services
Basting
I offer a basing service. This is where I load your quilt top, batting and backing to the long arm and baste all three layers together. This service is wonderful for those hand quilters who just don’t have the space to lay out these layers and baste them together.
I use basting stitches from 1/2 to 1/4 inch long for easy removal when your work is finished. Each row will be 4-5 inches apart.
Basting is a flat rate of $70
Preparing Backing
I am happy to offer backing preparation such as
squaring ($10)
pressing ($10) creases, manufacturer’s folds or pleats (This excludes regular folding that occurs for transportation, which is unavoidable and doesn’t require any added pressing)
piecing $5 per seam, (keep in mind that this option will also need to include the cost of pressing and squaring).
It is important that these be done precisely to get a beautiful finished quilt.
Minimum Loading
I offer a minimum loading fee of $60 for items such as runners or placemats (or for any quilt that would otherwise not amount to $60 when charging $.0225 sq/inch).
Trimming and Squaring after quilting
If you struggle with the weight of a finished quilt and would like me to trim and squaring your quilt before you take it home, I’d be happy to do that. (Sometimes our shoulders just aren’t what they used to be.)
The fee for squaring and trimming is a flat fee of $10.
Repairs
Every now and again, there will be a seam that didn’t quite catch during your piecing process (or because you’ve trimmed an outside edge and and tension will start the process of splitting open) If I happen to run into these, I will contact you for permission to fix them before I quilt over it. I always photograph these so should you be interested where I’ve made the repair, you will be able to locate it.
The fee is $5 for each seam that I rescue.
Pantographs/E2E (edge to edge quilting)
I have a variety of patterns for you to choose from and would be happy to help you choose the perfect pattern to enhance your quilt.
E2E $.0225 (two and a quarter cents per square inch)
You can calculate this by multiplying WxH x $.0225
For example, an 80×90 inch quilt would be 7,200 square inches. Multiply 7,200 x .0225 = 162. The fee for this quilt would be $162.00.
Borders
Borders look great with a different pattern to separate them from the main body of the quilt.
First border $25
Second border $15
Third border $10
Fourth border $5
Trimming and Squaring
Once the quilting is finished, offer a trimming of edges and squaring corners.
All trimming a flat rate.
$10
Binding
When it comes to binding, I am happy to offer two options.
I will make and attach your binding to your quilt on one side by machine and if the second option is chosen, use an invisible hand stitch to complete the other side for a beautifully finished binding with mitred corners.
Fees are as follows:
- Making and attaching binding to front (so that you can either hand bind it or machine stitch it on the back) $.15 p/linear inch.
- Making and attaching binding to front hand sewing binding to back $.26 p/linear inch.
When hand sewing binding on, there will be a flat fee of $60 for any time under 60×60
You must provide enough fabric for a 2.5 inch binding
